Message from the President
Have you had enough winter weather? Mother Nature provided a lot of excitement during the first two months of the year, but don’t worry there are signs that spring is on the way. St. Patrick’s Day is almost here, and pitchers and catchers have reported to Spring Training. Membership in the Chamber gives your business a competitive advantage and will help connect you to your next customer. To help get you and your
business ready for the warmer weather, the Chamber has a host of mixers, special events and programs for the spring. We also have a number of new and affordable advertising opportunities for our member’s. Check our web site for more details.
Health Insurance
While the health care reform debate has taken place in Washington, the Chamber has continued to offer an outstanding health insurance value through our Benefits Connection program. We are able to hold down premiums and offer our members quality coverage that is not only affordable, but dependable. March is our open enrollment period and I encourage you to learn more about this outstanding member benefit by
contacting John Allen at (302) 654-8823.
Annual Dinner
Our local economy is emerging from the recession with a number of fundamental changes. Perhaps the most notable is the re-opening of the Boxwood Rd. auto plant. Fikser Automotive has purchased the plant and will retool the facility to produce a hybrird electric car. We are pleased to have the company founder and CEO, Henrik Fisker, as our keynote speaker for our March 8th Annual Dinner.
Chamber O’Commerce
Four years ago we combined a networking mixer with the fun and tradition of St. Patrick’s Day, and came up with one of the Chamber’s most popular networking event. The Chamber O’Commerce Mixer is just another example of how we put some fun into your business and connect you with your next customer, and that’s no Blarney!
Kirkwood Highway
Kirkwood Highway is one of the oldest and most vibrant economic cooridors in the County. In April, we will conduct a Kirkwood Highway membership drive. The Kirkwood Highway starts in Elsmere and runs to Newark, in between there are hundreds of businesses. We have about
250 members in this corridor, but we would like to add more. We will be traveling Kirkwood Highway on our second annual bus tour to sign up new members, so be
on the look out for the Chamber bus!
We are here to help your business grow, and as always, thanks for your continued participation and support!
Mark Kleinschmidt
President
