Getting Things Done

The Chamber is committed to preserving and improving the legislative and regulatory climate in Delaware and New Castle County. We have been your advocate for:

Workers Compensation Reform. The Chamber successfully pushed for meaningful workers compensation reform. As a result, the Governor signed SB 1 into law in 2007. This was a comprehensive rewrite of Delaware’s costly and burdensome workers compensation law. The net result was to save thousands of dollars for member companies.

Tax Relief. The Chamber was centrally involved in obtaining a 20% across the board cut in the Gross Receipts Tax, which saved Delaware businesses over $45 million. The Chamber is a tireless advocate to lower your company’s tax burden.

Land Development. The Chamber provides comments and testimony on various land use legislation that comes before the New Castle County Council. Land use legislation and decisions must be made in a timely and predictable manner which will allow your business to grow. From time to time, we have worked directly with member companies to overcome legislative and regulatory barriers for economic development projects.
