Dinner guests helped celebrate the 50th anniversary
year of W.L. Gore & Associates.
Founders Bill and Vieve Gore dreamed of creating a company dedicated
to innovative products and fueled by a spirit of entrepreneurship.
Today, with over $2 billion in sales and more than 8,000 employees
(called associates) worldwide, the company is owned by members of
the Gore family and the associates.
In celebration of its 50th anniversary, Gore
has chosen the theme, “Bringing Dreams to Reality,” to focus on
its long success translating dreams into tangible, valuable realities
for customers and communities around the world.
W.
L. Gore & Associates – Bringing Dreams to Reality
W. L. Gore & Associates is a multi-billion dollar global
leader in the fabrics, medical, industrial and electronic products
markets. Gore’s modest beginnings date back to January 1, 1958,
when Bill and Vieve celebrated the New Year by launching a business
in the basement of their home. Today, W. L. Gore & Associates
is recognized as often for its unique culture as for its innovative
products.
Since its founding, Gore has avoided traditional
hierarchy, opting instead for a team-based environment that fosters
personal initiative, encourages innovation, and promotes direct
person-to-person communication among all “associates,” as employees
are known. This year, Gore again earned a position on FORTUNE
magazine’s annual list of the “100 Best Companies to Work
For” for the 11 th consecutive year. For the past several years,
Gore’s facilities in the UK , France , Italy and Germany have also
been named as one of the Best Companies to Work For in those countries.
